10 can only be in the top row because it can’t be the result of any subtraction. Then 9 could be in the top row, but if it’s not, it can only be the result of 10-1, so let’s put 1 and 10 in the middle of the top row and see where can we go from there. Now, 8 can only be in the top row because 1 is already used, so 8 can’t be next to or below 9. So I tried putting 8 next to 1, which automatically determined the positions of 7 and 2, but then I had nowhere to put 3. Therefore, 8 must be next to 10, which also sets the positions of 2 and 7. The numbers left are 3, 4, 5 & 6. 7 can only be the sum of 3 and 4, so I placed one of those two at the bottom and filled the rest upwards to see which of the two worked.
