SF Power Outage Tracker

Due to a power outage, residents of San Francisco’s Western Addition neighborhood were immersed in the dark on Tuesday night. PG&E reported that 2,069 households were without power as of 9:45 p.m. Later KRON reported when the lights first went off just after 9 p.m., this number was 5,726 customers. 

The utility company said it has a crew setting the outage and investigating the cause. PG&E said the power was expected to be restored by midnight.

On Tuesday, over 5,000 Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers lost power on San Francisco’s westside and in the Western Addition.

Power was expected to be restored to the Cathedral Hill region in the Western Addition by midnight. However, power has already been restored fully to the Outer Richmond, Golden Gate Park, Sutro Heights, and the Panhandle, leaving the outage only in the Cathedral Hill area.

5,726 customers lost power – 3,657 on the westside and 2,069 on Cathedral Hill.

Connie Chan, the District 1 Supervisor, blamed a transformer outage at 40th Avenue and Balboa Street. PG&E later told KRON4 that the westside outage was equipment-related. The cause of the Western Addition outage was not announced.
