Steve Bannon, a former senior adviser to Donald Trump, was criminally charged on Thursday in New York with operating a plan to obfuscate and fraudulently divert compensation payments to the CEO of a non-profit organization that raised money to construct a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Bannon “served as the architect of a multi-million dollar plan to swindle thousands of donors worldwide, including hundreds of Manhattan citizens,” according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr.
Due to his disobedience of a subpoena issued by the House Select Committee looking into the January 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol, Stephen K. Bannon was indicted today on two contempt of Congress. Despite a case from the House Select Committee, which was asked to Investigate the subject January 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol, Bannon, 67, is charged with two counts of contempt for refusing to attend a deposition and another for refusing to submit documents. The District of Columbia U.S. District Court has not yet scheduled arraignment date.
