The Luckiest Girl Alive is based on a book same name, a true story. Although the New York Times bestselling Luckiest Girl Alive is essentially a work of fiction, parts of the main character Ani’s backstory are inspired by events in the author’s life. When she was 22, Knoll’s therapist asserted she was raped. Knoll concluded that she was “very, very angry”, adding, “I was so conditioned to not talk about it, and that’s it didn’t even occur to me to be forthcoming. Then, I want to make people feel like they can talk about it like they don’t have to be ashamed”.

Tiffani (played by Chiara Aurelia), a scholarship student, feels out of place with her wealthy and confident peers.

One night at a party, Ani is gang-raped by three of her male classmates. Ani’s experiences are downplayed by her peers and doubted by the adults in her life. Luckiest Girl Alive Explained

In the film, viewers learn a gang teenager raped Ani by the popular boys in the class, Peyton, Liam, and Dean. Ani shared that the identical boys had also bullied him and their friend Ben. After, Ben and Arthur enact a shooting at their school. Unfortunately, Arthur spares Ani during the shooting, and Dean, who also survives, then spreads rumors that Ani was part of the plan to shoot everyone. Throughout the movie, Ani grapples with trauma and should watch her rapist, whether Dean has a successful career as a writer and an advocate for gun control.

However, by the movie’s end, Ani decides to share her experience after encouragement from her boss.
