Which British City had an Airport Named after Robin Hood? Answer
Up until recently, the contemporary airport in Doncaster, Yorkshire, was named for the legendary thief who stole from the wealthy to give to the needy. The British airfield, which was once known as Finningley Airfield in 1915, served as a training ground for the Royal Flying Corps during World War I and again during and after World War II. The airfield was eventually abandoned in 1995, but due to the emergence of low-cost carriers and increasing passenger demand, it was revived as a commercial airport in 2005. Local authorities looked for a well-known figure with ties to the area, and Robin Hood was chosen. The earliest stories were based in South Yorkshire’s Barnsdale Forest, which encircled Doncaster. The name, however, was short-lived, and in 2016 it was changed to Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
