Mill Creek High School in Gwinnett County is mourning the loss of its student after a car accident. Mill Creek posted on Sunday afternoon that one of their cheerleaders, 16-year-old Caitlyn Pollock, died in the accident the night before.The driver, Kyle McDowell, 21-year-old Kyle McDowell, is now facing charges.

Kyle McDowell is a  21-year-old resident of Flowery Branch and he was the driver of the car that entered State Route 316 from the northbound lanes of Sugarloaf Parkway, As per the report of the Master Police Officer Senior Hideshi Valle, Caitlyn Pollock, a 16-year-old native of Buford, was in the car with McDowell and another six passengers.

In this incident, Pollock, a Mill Creek High School cheerleader, passed away because of injuries. McDowell was in the hospital to heal from minor wounds and is accused of driving while intoxicated, failing to keep his lane, and first-degree vehicular homicide.

Parents and guardians of Mill Creek High School had  received a letter from Principal Jason Lane late on Sunday night, and the letter was, 

“As they deal with this enormous personal loss, our hearts and thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and loved ones. We will have a solemn moment of quiet on Monday in honour of our student, classmate, and friend.”
