N1 Accident Today
According to Xolani Fihla, a spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police, the truck was on the N1 when it crashed through the barricade on Wednesday morning.
On the N1 in Maraisburg, at the Albertina Sisulu Road exit, a truck was engaged in a collision.
Three left lanes are affected but the two right lanes are open, said the JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla.

Accident On N1 Today
According to the information we have, the truck was traveling on the N1 South today, October 12, 2022, when it went through the roadblock and halted at the N1 North. The three left lanes are affected, but the two right lanes are still open.
“The N1 North is facing significant traffic backups leaving Soweto.”
Fihla advises drivers to keep patience and take alternate routes.
Xolani Fihla said, “Motorists are urged to be patient at this moment. Avoid the N1 going between Soweto and Maraisburg and use alternative routes.”
N1 Accidents
The N1 is a national route in South Africa that travels from Cape Town to BeitBridge at the Zimbabwean border via Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Polokwane. It represents the beginning of the renowned Cape to Cairo Road.
The N1 travels via Touws River, Matjiesfontein, Laingsburg, and finally turns toward Beaufort West from the top of the pass.
