Also called the Creeslough explosion, the Donegal explosion happened at an Applegreen petrol station in Creeslough, a village in north County Donegal, Ireland. Aside from these victims, seven people who were hurt are in stable condition in a hospital in nearby Letterkenny. Another person is critically ill in the burns unit of a hospital in Dublin. From what can be understood from the reports of the Irish Police, there were no other casualties. Reports on what happened in Donegal explosion also revealed that police and other officials Saturday conducted a search and rescue operation.

What Was The Cause Of The Explosion In Donegal?

The actual cause of the explosion in Donegal is yet to be unearthed, but from what can be understood based on the superficial evidence and investigations, police and other officials, according to BBC suspect a gas leak might be the cause of the Donegal explosion. But unless a thorough investigation is made by the police and other officials, we cannot conclude what was the cause of the explosion in Donegal.

Many took to social media to express their grief and concern about what happened in Donegal explosion. Catholic Bishop Alan McGuckian described Friday as the “darkest day in Donegal”. “I have witnessed at first hand the immediate reaction of the local community to the tragedy who, in their bravery, took risks at the site to help others even to the detriment of their own safety.” Emergency service crews from Northern Ireland were sent across the border to help their Irish counterparts deal with the aftermath of the blast.
