According to the report from NDTV, it has been reported that Shubham Garg, a student from Agra, India visited Australia to pursue his higher studies. He has completed his Bachelor of Technology ans Master of Science at IIT Madras. He came to Australia to pursue his P.hD. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
Indian Student Stabbed In Australia
NDTV reported that an Australian Robber attacked the student on October 6, 2022, around 10:30 PM. when Shubham was returning from the ATM with cash, an unknown person approached Shubham with a knife. He allegedly demanded money and threatened him. When Shubham refused to give the money, the robber attacked him. He stabbed the victim with his knife repeatedly before running away. The man suffered multiple stabs in his face, abdomen, and chest.
What Happened To Shubham Garg?
According to the report from Op India, it has been reported that the police called the emergency services. The NS Police Area Command attended and located the victim and established a crime scene, it said. It said that North Shore Police Area Command officers have been investigating the stabbing and formed Strike Force Prosy. A 27-year-old named Daniel Norwood was arrested near the crime scene and charged with an attempt to murder. A search warrant has been issued for a local residence, and the police seized multiple items.
Police Report
According to the report from Op India, it has been reported that the Hornsby Local Court has denied bail to Norwood. He will be produced again on December 14. Local Australian media had reported that Norwood had approached Shubham Garg when the latter was walking near Gatacre Avenue. Norwood had allegedly threatened Garg and had demanded cash and his cell phone. When Shubham tried to resist, Norwood stabbed him multiple times and fled the scene.
Shubham Garg’s Sister Approaching Indian Government
According to the report from NDTV, it has been reported that Shubham Garg’s sister Kavya Garg tweeted, appealing to the Indian government to help her family with emergency visas saying, “My brother Shubham Garg, 28, from UP, was brutally attacked in Sydney, Australia 11 times with a knife and he is in critical condition. We seek your immediate help in this matter and an emergency visa for a family member to look after him. Update!! My brother is going through multiple operations, and the doctor said the infection is spreading in the body. Requesting @narendramodi for urgent help on this matter.”
