Former Yahoo! employees Brian Acton and Jan Koum founded WhatsApp. It was never meant to be used as a messaging app. Instead, in January 2009, after purchasing an iPhone, Koum and Acton devised an app to provide dynamic information about the people in your address book: it would show statuses for each person, such as “if you were on a call, your battery was low, or you were at the gym.” Their meetings were frequently held at the home of Koum’s Russian friend Alex Fishman in West San Jose.
In late January 2015, Koum announced on his Facebook page that WhatsApp would be available for PCs via a web client called WhatsApp Web: “Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device—this means all of your messages still live on your phone.” However, the desktop version was only available to Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone users as of January 21, 2015.
WhatsApp has various features, some of which are convenient and easy to find, while others necessitate a deeper dive into the app.
You can hide your last seen, such as responding to messages with emojis or changing the wallpaper for each contact if you want. We’ve covered our favourite tips and tricks in a separate feature, but today we’re focusing on a recent discovery we love.
You may not want your friends to see your profile picture for various reasons. There could be several reasons, such as gossip, love, ill will, or protecting your privacy. Regardless of the reason, you can hide a person’s DP in WhatsApp and replace it with a white silhouette on a grey background.
To secure your privacy, follow these three simple steps:
-
Open WhatsApp on your phone
-
Go to Settings > Account > Privacy
-
Select Nobody from the Profile Photo drop-down menu
This may be an unconventional method of preventing someone from seeing your Whatsapp Display Picture, but it works! This method entails ensuring that Contacts from whom you need to remove WhatsApp Profile Pictures are not saved in the Address book of your iPhone or Android phone. If the Contacts are in the Address book, you should erase/delete them.
Whether you delete the Contacts from the Address book, your chats with these individuals will remain active in WhatsApp, and you will want to chat with them. Regardless, there will be a change in how these Contacts appear on WhatsApp. You will not see the Names of contacts you have taken from the location book right now. Instead, you’ll only see their phone numbers. If you like how these Contacts appear in WhatsApp, you can remove them from your iPhone or Android phone’s address book.
