Is Mason Greenwood Arrested?

Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United player, has been arrested for allegedly violating his bail conditions.  In January, the 21-year-old striker was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He was also questioned about allegations of making lethal threats.  Greenwood, who has only played for England once, has yet to be charged, and his bail was extended in June. According to the BBC, the latest arrest was made at his home in Bowdon, Greater Manchester.

In a statement, a representative for Greater Manchester Police said they were “aware of an allegation regarding a 21-year-old man breaching his bail conditions and an arrest has been made on Saturday”.

They added that “enquiries are ongoing at this time”.

Greenwood was suspended from playing or training with his club until further notice within hours of the online allegations in January. Nike dropped him as a sponsor, and Electronic Arts removed him from active squads in its Fifa 22 game.

Mason Greenwood Case Is Mason Greenwood Back At United?

The England international is still suspended by United but continues to receive his weekly salary of £75,000 pending the outcome of any criminal proceedings. Previously, the club was forced to issue a statement confirming that Greenwood’s status had not changed.

Utd initially stated that it “does not condone violence of any kind,” but Greenwood was later suspended after cops launched an investigation. However, some keen fans noticed the player was still listed on the club’s website, fueling speculation that he could be reinstated.

The statement from Utd read: “There has been no change whatsoever in Mason’s status.

“We removed his profile from the club app soon after he was removed from the squad in January.

“This was in order to remove Mason from interactive elements of the app, such as team predictions etc.

“However, his profile was never removed from the website as he remains a Manchester United player, albeit not currently part of the squad while the legal process unfolds.”

Following the allegations, Greenwood was removed from FIFA 22 and dropped by sponsors Nike. He has also confirmed that he will not be appearing in Football Manager 2022. The official Manchester United website has removed all merchandise bearing the No11’s name, and teammates have unfollowed him on Instagram.

Greenwood’s promising domestic and international career is still at risk. He last appeared for United on January 22, when they defeated West Ham 1-0. The player joined United at the age of six and quickly rose through the ranks to earn a regular spot in the first team. When he made his debut for Manchester United in the Champions League in 2019, he was only 17 years old.
