Jordan Cashmyer, who was part of the American reality television series, “16 & Pregnant,” which was aired on MTV, died in Maryland on Sunday, her stepmother confirmed via social media.
“My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old,” Jessica Cashmyer wrote on Facebook. “Our hearts are truly broken. No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, ever. Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy.”
Jessica Cashmyer’s post was written on the Facebook account of Dennis M. Cashmyer Jr., her late husband and Jordan Cashmyer’s father.
Cause of Death
TMZ was the first media outlet to report Jordan Cashmyer’s passing, but her cause of death has not been confirmed.
Jordan Cashmyer starred alongside her family and former boyfriend, Derek Taylor, in a 2014 episode of “16 & Pregnant,” People reported.
Jordan Cashmyer split with Taylor after her segment on the series ended. Her airtime focused on her struggles with homelessness and attempts to find work as a pregnant teenager, whose family had disowned her due to their disapproval of her relationship with Taylor, the magazine reported.
According to Variety, the young mother’s struggles continued even after she gave birth to her daughter, Evie, and she later signed over custody rights on a temporary basis to Taylor’s mother in 2015.
