From February 6, 1952, until her passing on September 8, 2022, Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, born April 21, 1926) ruled the United Kingdom. Her 70 years and 214 days of rule are the longest of any British queen and the second-longest of any sovereign monarch in history. Elizabeth reigned over 14 other Commonwealth nations in addition to the United Kingdom at the time of her death. Elizabeth II was the first child born to the Duke and Duchess of York in Mayfair, London, to later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. She wed former Greek and Danish royal Philip Mountbatten in November 1947; their union lasted 73 years till April 2021 until his death.

When Did Princess Margaret Die? 

While Queen Elizabeth died at 96, symbolizing good health, Margaret’s life was quite different. Margaret suffered from health issues in the last few decades of her life. She had removed a section of her left lung in 1985 because she was a smoker. In 1993, she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. Then, in 1998, she suffered a minor stroke. In 1999, she was in a bathroom accident that left her with a severe scald on her feet, limiting her mobility. Finally, in 2002, Margaret suffered a stroke that took her life. She was 71 years old at the time.
