Steve Bannon is a former counselor to former President Trump who has been sentenced to six months in jail and a $200,000 fine by the Justice Department. Yes, Steve Bannon is expected to be formally sentenced on October 21.
Monday’s court filing by the DOJ argues that Bannon “aggravated” the attack on the Capitol by avoiding the committee’s subpoena that he did not comply with the pre-sentencing of the DOJ’s investigation for accusing him of “a bad-faith strategy of defiance and contempt”. In response to DOJ, Bannon’s lawyer asked for probation and to stay out of prison pending an appeal.
Suppose Nicholas does not order Bannon’s sentence; Bannon’s lawyer has asked for home confinement instead of prison. If the lawyers request in Court, the judgement should also favour Bannon’s side.

Why is Steve Bannon In Jail?
Bannon was convicted on two counts of contempt of Congress this summer. Later Congress voted to refer Bannon for criminal contempt of Congress. Especially, Bannon faced one count for failing to appear for a deposition and another for refusing to submit the documents.
Bannon also refused to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the “violent attack” on the Capitol and the “unprecedented effort” to overturn the 2020 election.
He also refused to provide the information to the Prohibition Office to help determine his ability to pay a fine that the Court decided. Continuously he denied the order passed by the Court.
Bannon was also involved in the case of the “We Build the Wall” scheme, which falls into the corruption of the people’s money. This scheme is a private fund border between U.S and Mexico. But there was an allegation that this scheme was under corruption. This case charged Donald Trump and cleared all charges, but he said Bannon’s involvement would be in this corruption.

Steve Bannon Jail Time
The Department of Justice (DOJ) sentenced Bannon should serve six months in jail and pay a $200,000 fine for denying a subpoena from the house committee investigation about the attack on Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Bannon argued to the judge that he should not go to jail because he followed the advice of his lawyer in a separate file. Although most of his arguments were rejected in the trial, and the defence lawyer presented them to the jury, ultimately, his legal team decided to call no witnesses and did not introduce any new evidence.

Bannon is expected to be sentenced on October 21 officially. Even though Bannon’s lawyer requested home confinement instead of jail, the judge rejected the request. Bannon continuously denied the Court’s order, and his cooperation with the investigation committee was disrespectful.
So the Department Of Justice(DOJ) didn’t accept his lawyer’s request and made this sentence. Still now, DOJ accepts only two persons the criminal contempt referral from
Congress. Both persons were former White House Officials.
