A 19-year-old man named by police as Jamie Meyrick died after his car crashed into a South Wairarapa lake. According to a Masterton police spokesman, Jamie Meyrick, a farm worker, died after the accident on a bridge at Lake Ferry. He was one of three people killed on New Zealand roads this weekend, all in crashes on the North Island. After being involved in a two-vehicle crash outside Featherston yesterday, two people were in intensive care at Wellington Hospital today. Their condition was unknown, but their injuries were believed to be severe.
