On 29th June 1967, at nearly 2 AM, a Buick Electra car having Jane Mansfield and three of her children hit the back of a semi-truck on a dark Louisiana highway. At that time, the car also carried actress Mariska Hargitay. Due to this accident, Mansfield’s car’s top was sheared, killing the three adults in the front seat. But the sleeping children in the back seat survived.

How Did Jayne Mansfield Die?

Jayne Mansfield died in a car accident nearly five years after Marilyn Monroe’s death. In the early morning of 29th June 1967, Jayne left Biloxi, Mississippi, travelling towards New Orleans. Before that, the actress had just performed at a Biloxi nightclub, and she was in a hurry to reach New Orleans for a television appearance. Her television appearance program was scheduled for the next day. During this travel, Jayne sat beside the driver, Ronald B. Harrison, and her boyfriend, Samuel S. Brody. Three of her kids were sleeping in the backseat. Three children survived this gruesome accident, while the remaining adults were killed.

After Jayne’s car crashed into the truck, it went under the back of the trailer, shearing off the car’s top. After this brutal accident, Police rushed to the spot to check Mansfield’s three children alive in the backseat. The accident killed the three adults in the front seat and Mansfield’s dog. The police report following the accident states that “the upper portion of this white female’s head was severed.” Police declared Jayne Mansfield dead on the scene. As per the Police, Mansfield suffered an instantaneous death.
