Markham And Elson Road Car Accident Today
Two adults were declared dead after a collision in Markham on Wednesday afternoon. Around 2:00 p.m., the incident occurred close to Elson Street and Markham Road intersection. According to authorities, two cars were in the crash, one of which was a truck. The police have not disclosed the victims’ ages and genders. While police investigate the collision, Markham Road is closed in both directions between Denison Street and Steeles Avenue East. This closure is expected to last for at least “a few hours.”
Markham Road Closure
Due to Tamil Fest, Markham Road is impassable to cars between McNicoll Avenue and Passmore Avenue. On Sunday, it won’t open until 5 a.m.
Only local traffic and emergency services will have access to the route. Traffic heading north will take a detour along Ninth Line, head north on Major Mackenzie Drive, head west on Major Mackenzie to Markham Road, and then head south on Markham Road to 16th Avenue. Traffic heading south will take the Ninth Line south to Highway 7, then take Highway 7 west to Markham Road, then north on Markham Road to 16th Avenue.
Markham Car Accident
According to Markham police, an automobile accident on 159th Street near the Tri-State overnight claimed the lives of two persons and injured another two. According to authorities, a Dodge Charger was moving swiftly eastbound on 159th Street close to I-294. In the westbound lane, the Charger lost control and crossed the median before being struck by oncoming traffic. According to police, the collision eventually involved four vehicles. A Mitsubishi SUV struck the Charger. Hyundai and a eve were also engaged. Both the Mitsubishi and Charger drivers had been declared deceased.
Accident In Markham
The only westbound traffic impacted by the lane closures is that going from Ninth Line to Hwy. 48/Markham Road. Between Highway 48/Markham Road and Ninth Line, three lanes of traffic, one westbound and two eastbound, will be open at all other times. There will be a temporary closure of the sidewalk on the north side of 16th Avenue between Highway 48 and Williamson Road. Pedestrians will be guided by directional signage.
All residences will have access during the project, and water and wastewater services won’t be affected. While there won’t be any changes to the YRT service along 16th Avenue, certain bus stops might be moved or closed.
