Mookie Betts is an American professional baseball right fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Boston Red Sox. In 2018, while with the Red Sox, he became the first player in MLB history to win the Most Valuable Player, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, batting title, and World Series in the same season.

Following a soft X-ray and a chest contusion diagnosis, the Los Angeles Dodgers first thought Mookie Betts had escaped an injury that would have forced him to miss time.
Betts underwent an MRI, which indicated a fractured rib, but continued agony forced him to do so.
The incident was compared to Cody Bellinger’s non-displaced fractured ribs from the previous season, which kept him off the field for around two weeks. Betts and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts thought the same timeline would apply.
Before starting his recovery process to come off the 10-day disabled list, Betts was first expected to take a few days off from baseball-related activities.
Prior to incurring the rib injury after colliding with Bellinger, Betts had been shown to be healthy this season after fighting with right hip pain for the majority of the 2021 season. He dismissed feeling frustrated, although that injury has ended another season.
Recovery Update
Mookie Betts was initially expected to recover from his fractured rib in two weeks when the Los Angeles Dodgers put him on the 10-day injured list on June 19.
Betts’ recuperation ended up taking longer than expected, and he didn’t start taking dry swings until recently.
According to Owen Perkins of MLB.com, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts still expects Betts to make a comeback before the All-Star Game, although as a designated hitter due to pain when throwing.
While Trea Turner has ably filled in for Betts in the leadoff spot of the Dodgers offense during his absence, it has been more difficult to find a replacement for the right field.
