Soul Food Movie
Soul Food is a famous 1997 American comedy-drama film directed by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, produced by Tracey Edmonds, and released by Fox 2000 Pictures. Tillman based the family in the movie on his own family. Soul Food was generally praised for portraying African-Americans in a more positive light than in Hollywood films.

Brandon Hammond as Ahmad
Before Soul Food, Hammond participated in classics such as Menace II Society, Tales From The Hood, and Waiting To Exhale; however, after the early ’00s, he had just a few minor appearances on screen. A career in the film industry remains a top aim in the former child star’s life. He describes himself as an “aspiring filmmaker” on Instagram.
Mel Jackson as Simuel
After Soul Food, Jackson continued to work as an actor, appearing in Living Single, In The House, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Steve Harvey Show, and Deliver Us From Eva. In an interview with Soul Train’s website in 2015, he mentioned that he wanted to focus on growing his content development company, Circulation Entertainment.
Gina Ravera as Faith
Ravera has appeared in various television shows since Soul Food, including The Great Debaters, in 2007. Castle, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Private Practice, and ER are among her credits.
Vivica A. Fox as Maxine
Fox dominated movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s, appearing in dramas such as Why Do Fools Fall in Love and blockbusters such as Kill Bill: Volume 1 and its sequel. Hall, who portrayed the family grandmother in Soul Food, is still working at 81. The seasoned actor has been in prominent TV shows such as Law & Order: SVU and significant film projects such as 2004’s The Ladykillers.
