Spanish Teacher Killed In Iowa
According to the New York Post, Nohema Graber was murdered on November 2, 2021, in the town of Fairfield. Willard Miller and Jeremy Goodale, both 16 at the time, are accused of beating Graber to death with a baseball bat before dumping her body in a park. According to NBC, Willard Miller is scheduled to stand trial in Council Bluffs on March 20, 2023, and Jeremy Goodale is scheduled to stand trial in Davenport on December 5, 2023. The teenagers, who are now 17 years old, will face adult charges next year.
Prosecutors said Tuesday in court documents that for the first time reveal a possible motive, that two Iowa teenagers killed their high school Spanish teacher last year out of frustration over a bad grade. The documents were filed ahead of a hearing on Wednesday in which a judge will hear arguments on whether to suppress any of the evidence against the two teenagers accused of murdering high school Spanish teacher Nohema Graber in the small town of Fairfield.

According to the Desmoines Register, Nohema Graber’s body was discovered on November 3, 2021, beneath a wheelbarrow, railroad ties, and a tarpaulin. According to reports, Graber met Miller and Goodale in Fairfield High School on the day she was murdered. She is said to have driven her van to Fairfield Park for her daily walk as a result.
Miller and Goodale allegedly followed her to the park before murdering her, according to court documents. According to the prosecutor’s account, Miller and Goodale were seen leaving the park in Graber’s van after the alleged murder.

Authorities in Iowa began to suspect Miller and Goodale were responsible for the brutal killing. However, while Miller initially claimed that he was involved in the murder, he later stated that he had no direct involvement.
Fairfield, Iowa, has a population of about 9,400 people and is located about 100 miles from Des Moines. Investigators claim that on the afternoon of Nov. 2, 2021, one of the teens met with Graber at Fairfield High School to discuss their poor grade in her class. Authorities say Graber later drove her van to a park where she was known to take daily walks after school. Witnesses saw her van leave the park with two people in the front seat less than an hour later. The van was abandoned at the end of a country road. According to investigators, after receiving a phone call from one of the teens, a witness later picked up both of the suspects as they walked to town on that road.

On November 2, 2021, police arrested Willard Miller and Jeremy Goodale, both 16-year-old high school students, for her murder.
However, at a hearing on Wednesday, Miller’s lawyers contested some of the evidence gathered against the teenager. They claim that when police searched his home and cell phone, they lacked probable cause. Prosecutors responded by unsealing court documents containing previously unreported details about the events leading up to and immediately following Graber’s death. Graber met with Miller at Fairfield High School on the afternoon of November 2 to discuss his poor academic performance.
‘The poor grade is believed to be the motive behind the murder of Graber which directly connects Miller,’ prosecutors said in a brief.
Both teenagers will face adult charges in Iowa, where they could face life in prison. If convicted, they will both be eligible for parole.
