A federal child sex trafficking raid led to the Wednesday arrest of a Tufts Medical Center anesthesiologist, said the authorities.
In federal court in Boston on Thursday, Sadeq Ali Quraishi was charged with attempting to traffic in children for sex and was ordered held without bond. If found guilty, the charge carries a required minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and carries a potential maximum sentence of life.
According to a spokesman for the Boston hospital, Tufts Medical Center has suspended Quraishi’s medical privileges and placed him on leave until the authorities provide further details.

Authorities reported that a Tufts Medical Center doctor was arrested on Wednesday as part of a federal investigation into child sex trafficking.
Doctor Sadeq Ali Quraishi appeared in federal court in Boston on Thursday after being accused of attempting to traffic in children for sex.
In anticipation of additional information from the authorities, the Boston hospital said it has terminated Quraishi’s medical privileges and placed him on leave.
Quraishi answered to an internet advertisement for two young girl, described as “beautiful flowers,” who seemed to be 18 years old and were “Traveling thru town on a lil’ roadtrip,” according to court filings. The doctor allegedly began messaging a covert cop who was listening in, who identified the children as being 12 and 14-year-old girls who were available for sex in exchange for cash.
Quraishi agreed to pay $250 to have sex with one of these made-up girls after a back-and-forth conversation during which both parties inquired as to whether the other was a police officer to ensure it wasn’t a trap, according to an agent from Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations division.

According to an affidavit, Dr. Sadeq Ali Quraishi, 45, of Boston, was arrested on Wednesday after attempting to pay for sex with a youngster at a hotel in the Boston area.
What Did Dr. Sadeq Ali Quraishi Do?
According to the criminal complaint, which was submitted by a special agent from the Homeland Security Investigations division, Quraishi agreed to pay $250 to have sex with one of these made-up girls after exchanging questions about whether the other was a police officer.
He met with an undercover cop at the hotel after getting there and paid $250 in exchange for a keycard, according to authorities. Agents then called the phone they had been messaging with to confirm Quraishi had it after he was taken into custody.
