Manchester City suspended him pending a trial. Mendy appeared in court on 10 September and was remanded in custody to next appear on 15 November with a trial date set for 24 January 2022.
On 16 November 2021, Mendy was charged with two further counts of rape.On 22 December Mendy was charged with a further count of rape, leading to a total number of charges at seven counts of rape and one of sexual assault which relates to five women
