Gethro Muscadin, a former basketball player for Kansas and New Mexico, passed away late on Monday as a result of injuries he received in a terrible car accident in December 2021. The death of the 22-year- old is mourned by the Lobo and Jayhawk communities.

Kansas head coach Bill Self tweeted on Tuesday morning, “Gethro Muscadin passed away late last night.” “He had been unresponsive since the car accident last December. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gethro’s loved ones. So young. So sad. He will always be a teammate of ours. RIP.”

Who Is Gethro Muscadin?

Gethro Muscadin is a former Kansas and New Mexico basketball player. 

Muscadin was born and raised in the Haitian port city of Gonaives, and he immigrated to the United States in order to play basketball. Muscadin played at the Kansas-based Sunrise Christian Academy, the Life Prep Academy, and the Kentucky-based Aspire Academy, where he developed into a four-star prospect and received scholarship offers from several high-major universities.

Gethro Muscadin, a former forward for Kansas and New Mexico who was hurt in a rollover accident last December, passed away late on Monday as a result of his injuries.

Muscadin was a passenger in a serious single-car accident that occurred in Kansas last winter. He was traveling home in the early hours of the morning after attending the Jayhawks’ game against Nevada in Lawrence with his girlfriend. Muscadin was rendered unconscious after the car rocked many times.

Gethro Muscadin, a former Kansas Jayhawks forward, passed away on Monday from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle rollover accident on the Kansas Turnpike in December 2021.

Muscadin’s passing was confirmed by the head coach on Tuesday via a tweet.
