Late Monday evening in Cerro Gordo County, a Mason City man was killed, and two passengers got injured in a crash involving a Charles City man. Iowa State Patrol reported That Timothy James Hoy, aged approximately 58, of Charles City, was driving the car eastbound, moreover on 265th Street and 2 miles west of Nora Springs and near Yarrow Avenue. It was about 11:10 PM on Monday, while Stephen John Miles, age 41, of Mason City, was driving westbound.

Hoy’s 2013 Nissan Altima crossed the center line, crashing head-on into a 2005 Pontiac G5 driven by Miles, the State Patrol report said. The report confirms that Miles’ vehicle came to rest in the north ditch. Also, Hoy’s vehicle came to rest in the roadway and was struck by a third vehicle. Miles was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in Miles’ vehicle, Tyler James Miles, age 16, and Jackson Alexander Gobeli, age 17, received minor injuries and were transported to MercyOne-North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City – Miles by Mason City Fire Department Ambulance and Gobeli by Nora Springs Ambulance. Hoy was not listed as injured or transported by ambulance.
