Rob Ford was a well-known Canadian politician and businessman. He served as the 64th mayor of Toronto (2010 to 2014). Before and after his term as mayor, Rob was a city councillor representing Ward 2 Etobicoke North. First, he was elected to Toronto City Council in the Toronto municipal election (2000). Rob Ford, the former mayor of Toronto, died after fighting cancer, his family says. He died at the age of 46 and after his death, City Hall began an official period of mourning. Flags at municipal buildings were also lowered to half-staff. A book of condolences was begun at City Hall, and chalk was given for personal messages on the Nathan Phill Square’s pavement, similar to that after Jack Layton’s death. Rob Ford had cancer, first diagnosed in 2014. A public funeral service was held at St. James Cathedral, and after that, a public commemoration of Rob’s life at the Toronto Congress Centre was held in the evening.
Rob was buried at Riverside Cemetery in Etobicoke, where his dad is buried.
