Albertsons owns Vons Grocery Store. The American grocery chain Albertsons Companies, Inc. was established in Boise, Idaho, and has its headquarters there. Albertsons operates as Vons, and Cerberus Capital Management LP recently bought the Albertsons businesses. Albertsons and Safeway, two significant grocery store businesses with a long history in Southern California, were combined as a result of the transaction.

Who Owns Vons Grocery Store?

When Charles Von der Ahe, the company’s founder, opened the first Vons location in downtown Los Angeles in 1906, operations were first conducted in a 20-foot-wide grocery store. The number of outlets had increased to 87 by 1928. All Safeway locations in Southern California and Nevada were purchased by Vons in 1988. Von later became a part of Safeway on April 8, 1997, after selling its equity to Safeway. When Joe Albertson launched the first store in Boise, Idaho, on July 21, 1939, Albertsons officially began operations. Albertsons was acquired by SuperValu in 1999 (and joined the Cerberus Group), and then SuperValu sold it to a group of investors headed by Cerberus Capital Management in 2006. Cerberus Capital Management and Albertsons Investor Holdings LLC currently own Albertsons.
